I am writing to you to tell you about a new ownership structure at Cardinal Security that we are confident will provide even better levels of service for you in the future and continue to be a leading supplier in guarding.

The Cardinal business was founded 14 years ago by myself and has grown by a mixture of new business, organic growth and acquired businesses during that time.  In order to move it forward to the next stage in its development, the company will benefit from a different organisational structure and further development of corporate systems.  In effect, the business needs more than just my entrepreneurial skills to continue its growth, which is why I am handing over the reins.

I was keen that Cardinal should not be swallowed up by a larger business or one of the larger security firms as that would have inevitably resulted in poorer customer service and I have seen many innovative organisations like ours stifled by corporate rules.

I am therefore delighted that we have found a group of private individuals with experience in the security industry who will take ownership of Cardinal Security Limited through what is called a management buy-in.

This means the company will still be independent and in control of its own destiny.

Importantly, the new owners not only understand what makes Cardinal unique, but will be able to take the business to even greater heights of growth and development.

I am therefore delighted to announce that the new owners of Cardinal Security Limited with immediate effect include Chief Executive Officer, Simon Chapman – previously of Lodge Service, G4S, Alpha Security Products and Checkpoint Systems.  He is joined by Chairman Michael Goddard who has over 40 years experience within the FM sector; and Director of Strategy and Finance, Stuart Marcy.

Graham Allison, who joined Cardinal recently as Commercial Director has been appointed Managing Director with immediate effect.

Importantly, the new owners of the business have great knowledge of the security and loss prevention sector, understand what makes Cardinal unique, and have the skills and experience to take the business to the next stage of development.  I strongly believe their efforts will result in an even better customer experience for you and Cardinal will continue to innovate and lead the way in the marker sector in which we operate.

This has been a very difficult decision for me to take, as building Cardinal over the past 14 years has been a real passion of mine (my ‘baby’ if you like) and I have loved working with so many good people on the way.  But, ultimately however, this is the right choice for me, my family and the future of the business.

Cardinal Security Limited will remain an independent business with a focus on the retail, distribution and logistics sectors.  It will continue to provide a specialist security service tailored to the needs of you, our valued customer, with a responsiveness, agility and innovative approach that other providers simply cannot match.

You will notice many positive developments over the next few months, including the expansion of our headquarters in Great Chesterford Essex, with the addition of a dedicated training academy, a state of the art control room and ‘intelligence centre.’

Cardinal will continue to provide the innovation and technology that has placed the business at the forefront of the sector.  Customers will continue to have access to technologies and systems in the broader Cardinal Group – including Amberstone’s leading electronic security technology and the Ministry of Ideas’ leading data solutions.

Over the years, Cardinal has supported both the NBCS which it founded in 2011 and ORIS Forums which it acquired in 2011, and supported the growth of the ORIS Media business and is pleased to see these as standalone and independent businesses in their own right which are no longer part of the wider Cardinal Group.  There will be no change to the way these businesses are operated.

To guarantee a smooth transition over the coming months, I will be working part time alongside the new team in a consultancy capacity – as will Kerinda Ibbotson.
